Raising money for the Replacement Launch Tractor

The wonderful and trusty lifeboat launch tractor at SARA Beachley Lifeboat Station has served us well over the past 20 years. She was the brainchild of our own Chris Taylor – who – tired of replacing the brakes on the landrover from damage caused by frequent dips into the water off the slipway – spotted a dumper truck and figured that it could be the solution. He managed to get hold of one, set about re-engineering it and it has done the job perfectly ever since.

However, over 20 years of service has taken its toll and it now needs ever increasing amounts of TLC. It now spends a lot of time stripped down for repairs. The time has sadly come to retire this much loved machine and replace it.

Machines that can do this job do not come cheap, they have to be robust and reliable, capable of withstanding salt water and Severn mud.

Thank you!

Hole in One Competition

Achieve a hole in one on the 13th and win Dinner Bed and Breakfast for 2 at the wonderful Whitebrook restaurant

The Whitebrook is a Michelin star restaurant with rooms nestled in a blissfully peaceful village in The Wye Valley where chef owner Chris Harrod’s menu encapsulates the surrounding countryside.  In his dishes, you’ll find many ingredients foraged from the nearby fields, hedgerows and the Severn estuary, while much of the produce is grown in The Whitebrook kitchen garden and orchard.  Chris is a loyal supporter of local suppliers and around 80% of the menu is sourced from within the Wye Valley and its borders.  This approach has won him a Green Michelin star, which is held by only a handful of UK restaurants and recognises his commitment to sustainability.

The winner of a hole in one will be treated, along with a guest, to dinner, bed & breakfast at The Whitebook Restaurant with Rooms.  They will receive freshly baked Welsh cakes on arrival in their double room before later enjoying canapés and an aperitif in the lounge followed by a seven or nine course tasting menu in the restaurant featuring dishes such as:

Orkney scallop with heritage carrots, alexander, rock samphire, roast chicken skin, Middle white suckling pig with hops & jack by the hedge and Local Packham pear, buttermilk, maritime pine, yoghurt crumb.
