  • #92: Monmouth 26-08-20

The Beachley water rescue team was called out just before 3pm to go to the aid of someone in the water in Monmouth. This was potentially a very serious situation as the level and speed of the River Wye have increased significantly following a storm. Fortunately the Fire & Rescue Service also responded quickly with significant assets, and shortly after the first SARA volunteer arrived on scene the individual concerned was brought safely to dry land and a waiting ambulance.

  • #85: Oldbury 12-08-20

SARA Lifeboat 3 was launched just after 0930, to go to the aid of a group of kayakers. They had set out on a round trip from Thornbury Sailing Club but one of their party had become exhausted – not ideal on rapidly incoming tide. Luckily one of the security team at Oldbury Nuclear Power Station contacted the Coastguard to raise the alarm.
The SARA crew brought the exhausted kayaker, and escorted her companions, back in to the sailing club. SARA Sharpness were there standing by with a shore-based SRT team and a small boat, in case extra help was required, and Chepstow Coastguard also attended.
