Head of Fundraising
Can you help SARA to help other people? SARA is looking for a new volunteer Head of Fundraising, reporting to the CEO and the Board of Trustees, to build and lead a team to achieve our fundraising needs and aspirations.
SARA – The Severn Area Rescue Association – is a multi-disciplinary all-volunteer search and rescue organisation which operates on some of the most powerful natural waterways in the world, the highest inland cliffs in southern Britain and the very varied area surrounding them. It is the designated rescue service for an area of over 20,000 km2 on and around the Severn, with approximately 200 operational volunteers. SARA is the largest all-volunteer lifeboat service in the UK, with 14 operational boats, of which 5 are Lifeboats ‘declared’ to the Coastguard as available 24 x 7.
SARA will turn 50 next year and is looking to the next exciting phase in its development. Working across this amazing organisation, with its 7 rescue stations conducting over 100 operations a year, you would define and build a team to develop income streams, coordinate and grow the suite of successful fundraising activities, seek opportunities to build on the success of existing fundraising activities and exploit untapped opportunities.
Perhaps you have skills in sales or marketing you would like to utilise, or other experience within the charity sector. Perhaps you have relevant skills or experience from elsewhere. With no obligation to get cold and wet, or to drop everything to go out searching in the middle of the night, this could be a way for a motivated and talented person looking for a new senior-level challenge to make a real difference.
